I rented the movie "Little Miss Sunshine" recently and laughed enough to greatly lift my mood!
I called my daughter and her husband to ask if they wanted to borrow my copy to watch. My son-in-law answered. I asked him: "Have you seen Little Miss Sunshine?"
"I think she's in the bathroom," he responded.
A perfect case of ambiguity, and very humorous at that, but most of our examples of ambiguity are not all that humorous. Our goal in writing technical material is to make sure that our reader will not interpret our statements in any way that we didn't mean.
The truth is...my daughter, who is 9+ months pregnant, is anything BUT "Little Miss Sunshine," and deservedly so. We had a good laugh about that and they also enjoyed laughing with the movie.
