Alfred Adler (1870 – 1937) was an Austrian medical doctor and co-founded psychoanalysis with Sigmund Freud and a small group of Freud's associates. He later broke from Freud to found his own school, called Individual Psychology. Although Adler’s theories are broad and complicated, they tended to center around interventions to correct the “inferiority complex”, a term that Adler himself invented.
